social justice context, privilege is the idea that certain people are granted unearned benefits by society, while others are not (based on who they are, where they were born, other traits or aspects of themselves, etc.). It’s a concept that’s been popularized by privilege lists.
One thing we get wrong when we talk about privilege in social justice contexts.
